Teak is a strong, stylish choice for outdoor furniture that naturally changes over time. When left outside, it develops a silvery-grey patina that shows its organic character without weakening the wood. Small cracks, peeling, and joint movement are normal in teak. How quickly this happens depends on weather, climate, and exposure.
Clean spills right away with a soft, dry cloth. Wash as needed with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth. Avoid harsh cleaners or abrasives, and never let water sit on the surface. Once dry, cover your furniture with a breathable cover during bad weather or when not in use.
As the finish wears, peeling or bubbling may occur. Use a soft, natural bristle brush to gently remove loose finish in the direction of the grain. The exposed wood will blend into the finish within 1–3 months as it silvers naturally. Once fully weathered, teak needs no additional care. If you’d like to restore the natural color, consult a professional furniture technician.
